POP3 E-Mail Account

A POP3 E-Mail account provides a separate user name and password access to an e-mail address within your domain. Unlike e-mail aliases, mail can actually be stored on our server using a POP3 account. Aliases only direct mail to this account. Many hosts that advertise "Unlimited" POP3 accounts only provide you with one POP3 account and the rest are simple aliases. If you have a dial-up connection, your ISP has provided you with a POP3 account.

POP3 accounts are used for seperating e-mail. If you want to give each of your three employees an e-mail address, but you don't want each to have the ability of seeing the e-mail of the other two, you would get them each their own POP3 accounts. This will allow only the person that knows the username and password to access the account.
